Meet our Trainers

 Kaytina Haack, Health & Wellness Director/ Personal Trainer
enjoys motivating people of all populations to move and reap the benefits of wellness.  Kaytina has worked in hospitals, corporate wellness centers, and large fitness arenas all around the Columbia area.  She started and successfully managed a senior church class for a number of years as well as having implemented an aqua class which operated at a northeast country club. Kaytina has some health challenges of her own, an insulin dependent diabetic for 33 years, actually she sees diabetes as a blessing now as exercise is such an important component of controlling diabetes, so she has exercised her entire life to help control blood sugar levels. She has also undergone major back as well as hip surgery, through these challenges she still declares that movement is her belief and such a major part in being well.  Kaytina's grandest gifts on this earth are her daughters, Kaylin (23) a recent graduate in public affairs from Columbia College, and Taylor (18) a freshman at Winthrop University.

 Pam Taylor, Assistant Health & Wellness Director/ Personal Trainer
has 20 plus years of dedication and perusing a health and fitness life style.  Certification with Jazzercise Inc. in 1981, she focuses her energy on educating the mid-life and over 50 years of age group in what impact regular physical fitness has on the aging process.  Pam's strongest attribute is helping people believe in themselves and to encourage the "I CAN DO IT" mindset. "We will work together as a team to obtain your goals." I am thrilled to become a part of this wonderful team here at the JCC.  My husband and I moved here from Michigan in June of 2007, and have 6 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 beautiful dogs.  I love the friendliness and the warmth of the people I have met here.   I am studying for my National Personal Trainer Certification and would like to continue studies on the aging process and what we can do to stay fit and healthy to make the transition more enjoyable for us as we age.  My hobbies are antiquing, motorcycling, running, and biking. I love the water, mountains and all nature.

Brad Benik, Personal Trainer
is a graduate of Spring Valley High School.  During Brad's 3 years in the US Army he went to massage therapy school at the Richmond Academy of Massage in Virginia.  After graduation, he went to work for his family-owned Spa/Salon as a massage therapist and Business Manager.  He then began pursuit of Personal Training certifications from Apex Fitness, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and W.I.T.S.  While practicing massage and personal training for the past 6 years he has continued his education toward a degree in Athletic Training.

Brian Bluestein, Personal Trainer
is well versed in the fitness world. He has studied physical fitness and is a certified trainer and has been training clients since late 2003.  Brian worked in New York City as a fitness model and actor, and supplemented personal training in with the mix at New York Sports Club.

  Derrick Dixon, Personal Trainer
joined the Katie and Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center with four years of personal training experience.  Derrick has had experience in multiple sports which include football, track, and wrestling.  He enjoys coaching little league football, baseball, and high school football.  Derrick has committed his life to help improve and motivate people get in better shape and is currently a studying to become a registered nurse.  His hobbies include sports, strength training, and spending time with his family.

Robert Reynolds, Personal Trainer
joined the Katie & Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center with many years of experience in strength sports.  Football, power lifting, and strongman have had the most influence on his training.  He believes speed and power training work well for young and middle age clients.  The older individual needs more controlled lifting with emphasis on lighter weights and stretching.  Diet has the most influence on muscular development and weight loss.  Robert's hobbies and interests include weights, sports, boating, and scuba diving.

Chris Siau, Personal Trainer
has been a personal trainer for over 6 years. He holds two certifications which include the East Coast Instructor Training School and the nationally certified American Council of Exercise. The American Heart Association also certifies him in CPR/AED. Chris's dedication to his craft leads him to annually visit fitness conferences to help his progression as a trainer. Chris's philosophy on developing a healthy body is educating his clients on the importance of core fitness and the benefits of functional exercise and its relevance to the life you lead now and into the future. Chris's hobbies include cycling, tennis, and of course working out! Chris's word of wisdom is consistency. Show up everyday, do a little and you will get large results later.

Pierre Celestin, Personal Trainer
joined the JCC as a college intern, but after his success as an intern, Pierre was invited to join the personal training staff. Pierre has a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Fitness Programming from Coker College. He has a background in various sports including basketball, baseball, track and football. Following in the footsteps of his mother, Pierre decided to enter the fitness world. He has also been an intern at West Hartsville Elementary and a basketball coach at St. Josephs church. Pierre has served on Walk for Life committee through the American Diabetes Association. Pierre completed the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) training course. He is certified in First Aid, CPR & AED.

Kyle Lambert, Sports & Recreation Director/ Personal Trainer
joined the Katie & Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center staff as a lifeguard, and has had several promotions.  Most recently promoted from Assistant Health and Wellness Director, to the Director of Sports and Recreation, Lambert is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Sports Management.  He enjoys sports and the outdoors and welcomes any ideas you might have for a league or team here at the JCC!  Kyle and Mary were married in October 2008, and share their Lexington home with Junior, a Chihuahua, and Rascal, a white Cottonball cat.

Whitney Fleshman, Personal Trainer
graduated from The University of South Carolina in 1997 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications.  She currently works full-time for SRC-An Aetna Company and enjoys training others in the early mornings and late afternoons.  Currently, Whitney holds a Group Fitness Instructors Certification from Lexington Medical Center's Health Directions and is certified by World Instructors Training Schools (W.I.T.S.) as a personal trainer.  In her work at Aetna she volunteers as a Wellness Ambassador to coordinate healthy lifestyle programs offered to employees.  

 Darby Wheeler, Personal Trainer
is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. Her passion for health and wellness, coupled with her desire to help others acheive their fitness goals led her to pursue a career as a personal trainer. Darby is certified by the American Council on Exercies. She is also certified by the American Red Cross in CPR, First Aid and AED.

 Rick Trevino, Personal Trainer 
is a California native that has made fitness his passion! He grew up competing in sports such as distance running, wrestling, & baseball. Fitness became such a natural part of his life that immediately following high school, Rick went on to become certified as a personal trainer. Since then, he’s worked with many of the top fitness clubs and organizations in the industry, such as 24 Hour Fitness, Club One, & Google (Yes! the internet search engine corporation). In addition, he’s obtained several of the industry’s most renowned certifications: ACSM, NASM, AFAA, NCSF. Currently, Rick holds a business degree in Corporate Financial Management, and is certified as a personal trainer & exercise specialist through ACSM & NASM. He is currently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and is an active participant in various fitness events (5K, 10K, ½ & Full Marathons, Triathlons, Adventure Races, Rock Climbing, Football, & Softball). Rick uses his organization and mental toughness as a marine, his knowledge and experience as a personal trainer, and integrates them both with his unique west coast style of training to provide his clients a fun & challenging workout!
